what, only Mayne is allowed to post nonsense?

I thought so.

Right. Cookie dough in ice cream is terrible. And it's not the only ingredient that shouldn't be in ice cream.
Oreos. Because by volume, there is less goodness in X weight or X volume of oreos, than there is in plain ice cream. And cookie dough has the same problem, it's ok to eat some while you wait for cookies to bake, but in ice cream, it's LESS good then the stuff around it.

Things which i approve to be in ice cream: pecans, caramel / brittle, chocolate fish, peanut butter, mint, and anything which is a burst of flavour.
Things which i do *not* approve of in ice cream: oreos, cookies in general, pretzels (no seriously, check out B&J's latest flavour "netflix & chilled"), marshmellows, fruit of any sort (**** off with your healthfood), or otherwise anything which has LESS flavour than the ice cream around it.

I can tolerate marshmellow in Phish Food because they are tiny and that ice cream has a ton of flavour anyway.

Look .. i'm just angry that Haagen Dasz discontinued their awesome Vanilla Peanut Butter Swirl, ok ? It's been 30 years and i cannot get it out of my brain.

I do love some rocky road. I will have to agree with him on cookie dough and oreos though. Not interested in either of those in my ice cream.

My favorite ice cream of all time is Marianne's 2 am Truffle.

Vanilla Ice cream with fudge and blackberry swirl.

Cookie dough and Oreo are my two favorite flavors of ice cream. I would put you on my ignore list if there weren't so few posters still around!

Everybody knows you bulk up your ice cream with either fresh oreo's or Keebler Elves various varieties or Chips Ahoy soft baked. Nothing beats Keebler soft batch cookies. Break those into small pieces and bulk up your favorite ice cream.

I will agree with OP, cookie dough ice cream was never my favorite. Fresh cookie dough is good and edible, that stuff put in the ice cream is not good cookie dough. Just a chewy glob with not that much flavor.

I liked it when I was a kid, but I really don't care for it as I got older.

My wife and kids both love cookie dough ice cream, but I would rather have just about any other flavor over it.

Cookie dough is much better than ice cream. Your entire premise is flawed, especially as nuts have no place whatsoever in ice cream. Peanut butter can be a welcome addition in the right circumstances.
Ice cream with chocolate-covered waffle cone pieces in it is good too.

Chapman's cookie dough ice cream is awesome! This just reminded me I have some in the freezer. Might have a bowl. Chapman's is pretty much the only brand I buy, it's actually made in Ontario. Not a lot of stuff made here these days may as well support the few that are left.

I know it's horribad so I don't buy it. I think I had cookie dough ice cream once. It wasn't great but even not so great ice cream is pretty good. But I usually stick with the basics. Vanilla or chocolate.

Cookie dough ice cream is nasty. So is PB ice cream.
I remember as a kid Baskin Robbins had a licorice ice cream.

Anise ice cream is delicious. We made some a few weeks ago: cream, half and half, sugar, and anise oil, mmm.

Licorice ice cream is amazing. I've only had it once from a boutique vendor at a festival, but if I could buy it in a store, it would probably be at least 33% of my ice cream purchases. Another 33% would be coffee, and the rest would be miscellaneous stuff that caught my eye.

the title of this post was incorrect, so i didn't read the body

i just read the body and regretted it

peanut butter ice cream is so sickeningly overpowered

in cookie dough ice cream, you can strategically distribute your consumption of the chunks to balance dough and cream

but in peanut butter ice cream? there is no escape

there is only overwhelming peanut-ish taste that seems subtle at first, but eventually steamrolls your tastebuds

i have tried peanut butter ice cream on numerous occasions but never finished a cone or bowl of it
