I just wanted to let ATOT know that I made some beef jerky and it's very good. I should open a beef jerky business in my area!

Great source of protein and low in calories. I'm officially addicted.

Anyway, you don't care. ;)

See ya!

C'mon, specifics!

Type of meat? Type of unit used (oven/dehydrator)? Marinated? Spices?

Now you have to send me some for teasing me :D .

Wow! Someone is really interested. You make my day! ;)

Send you some? You're giving a reason to a dog to **really** attack your post(wo)man! Maybe you don't like him/her? :p

1kg (2.2lbs) of french roast beef
3h in the freezer
Marinate for 24h or more
4h in the oven at 175F
(I think it would have been better if I had left it another 30 mins.)

Sauce:
1/2 cup Soy sauce
1/4 cup honey
1 tablespoon red pepper powder
1 tablespoon Worchestershire sauce
1/2 tablespoon garlic powder
1/2 ginger powder

Now, don't run around telling it's your recipe. I have a trademark on that! :p Seriously, be my guest to claim the full ownership, I took it off the web! ;)

edit: congelator -> freezer

Actually you only need an hr at 175 to kill the internal bugs then just leave it in the oven with the lightbulb on to continue drying for like a day.
Save you some power and easier to get to the dryness you want without much trouble.

Your local butcher probably has some fresh jerky. My butcher makes the best jerky I have ever had. $16 a pound but it's fantastic. Thick, chewy, peppery goodness.

I make mine out of deer meat.

1cup of Jack Daniels
1Cup of Brown Sugar
2oz of mollasses(sp)
Garlic Salt
Onion Powder
Fresh ground pepper
1 whole bottle of Jack Daniels old #7 bbq
4oz JD ol#7 mustard
soy sauce
worsh(sp) sauce
Marinate for 2 hours.
Dehydrate for 7 hours.

Family and friends get addicted to it pretty quick. You can use London broil in place of deer meat, but do not put in the mollasses(sp)
