I just switched my laptop to Ubuntu (x64) and I am in love with it. I still have my desktop PC on XP, so Ubuntu isn't really a "replacement" for me, but honestly all I use the XP machine for is gaming and the internet. Ubuntu has so far flawlessly taken over all my other tasks with OpenOffice, email and music. I still have to test my iPod with Songbird though.
I am still trying to learn how to do things the Linux way (i.e. installing with repositories, where the hell is my C: drive and program files, etc) but I like it so much better.
Unfortunately, nothing will replace Windows for hardcore gaming. I was thinking of dual booting with Ubuntu on my desktop too, but I don't know about hardware support, so I'll have to research that.
