The Wii is a great party console. If you aren't throwing regular Wii parties, then trade it in and get a PS3 (all of the 360 games end up on PC anyway)

😵? Wii Play is probably the worst game I've got for the system if it didn't come with a wiimote I never would have bought it.

My Ps3 hasn't been used in around 6 months and BluRay movies are still too expensive. I say sell your Wii and pocket the money for now, then jump back in the game later. I could see trading in a Wii for an Xbox 360 considering the new price- but the Ps3 still needs another year to develop a better library of games and maybe see another price drop.

😕

Correction: It's really pretty good now and will keep you entertained until the big games come out this fall and early next year (LittleBigPlanet, Resistance 2, Killzone 2, etc).

To the OP, you have my vote to sell the Wii and get a PS3.

To people who claim blu-ray movies are still too expensive. Did you know there's this service call movie rental?! Can you believe they let you rent unlimited movies for a set monthly fee?! I know! It's crazy!

some people like to buy their movies (I'm not one of them, unless it's a really good one, but just saying). that and isn't netflix increasing it's bluray rental fees in comparison to dvd only?

Wii is only fun playing with friends. the lack of good serious single player games is killing it. BUT its great fun to play with my wife and kids.

We use the PS3 more for movies then games. just has not been many good RPG's out. im not a fan of FPS games on the consoles

I can't do that and I have 2 PS3s. My recommendation is to wait until $299. Or at the earliest $350, which will probably be next spring. Unless you are a Blu Ray buff in that case, maybe, big maybe. The one thing about this is it does get BR updates, which is nice. I do pretty much all my gaming on my 360 and the functions of the PS3 as far as in-game chat and cross game voice chat are like pre-historic on the PS3 compared to it. Chat just in MGO was a pain in the neck and I need something comfortable like what comes in the box with the 360. Bluetooth headsets just do not cut it. Anyhow, rumor is they are working on some of this stuff so by next spring with a $350 price tag yea I could probably recommend it then and by that time most of the big games that are in the line-up now will be out. I could however reccomend it if you are at all interested in a 360, but if you are set on the PS3 I still say wait until next spring and a $350 price point.

Do you have a 360? If not, then the PS3 might be a better choice over your Wii if you are not having fun with it. Keep in mind that more and more exclusives for both the 360 and PS3 are diminishing though as time goes on while Nintendo's exclusives are remaining. Now, whether that matters to you or not is a whole different story. In the end, just do whatever you think will be more fun for you which should primarily revolve around the games because everything else can be accomplished through other means.

Keep in mind I am selling my Wii to get a nice chunk of $$ to use towards the PS3. I figure even if I only get $300 for the Wii and the games I have I'm still only spending a few hundred on a PS3 and a couple games. If I can use the SonyStyle credit card deal and get $100 off then I would only end up spending like $200 for the 80gb bundle + a few other games.

But now I have a dilemma that I can't believe I didn't think of before: My TV is junk. Its an old tuber and not a nice, new LCD HDTV. I don't have the money to buy a new TV right now so I'm pretty much stuck with this one for quite a while (maybe another year! 🙁). With this in mind, do I stick with my old plan and go for the PS3 or should I go with a 360? Graphics were never really why I wanted the PS3 but I do know that is where it shines. So if I'm stuck playing my games in crappy resolution, should I just go for the cheaper Xbox 360? I could probably make a slight profit if I bought the $299 version. The downside is that I'm gonna be paying $60/year for Live so it will end up being a bit more in the long run.

A REAL GAMER would buy a Wii just for the VC games. You clearly don't know jack about games.

Just stick with the PS3. Games are still going to look great even if they won't be utilized to their full potential, and you're future-proofing yourself for when you do get the HDTV. Especially when you throw Live into the mix, you'll end up paying more for the 360 in the long run.

Also, PS3 + Snes9x FTW (I think the 360 can do this too, but that makes both of them better than the Wii)

lol wut? Pretty easy to get Snes9x on Wii too. I should know, I have it (and Genesis, GBA, MAME, NES, ScummVM, N64 (currently very buggy) and more).

Never, ever pay $50(it is $50 btw for 13 months not $60) for Live, ever. Anyhow, I'm good until July 09 on $28 for 13 months. The key is look for the best deals which are usually from Amazon and Buy.com. Got mine from Buy.com with an on sale price of $38, but with google checkout a total of $28. More than worth it in my eyes for 13 months. Last timed I checked they had it for $44 so the best you could do is $34. I also saw newegg had it at $39 not too long ago as well. Go with whichever you want, but if you do go 360, never, ever, pay full price for Live.

I enjoyed Wii sports more than wii play. Just bought Resident Evil 4 for the wii too and it's great so far. I've also really enjoyed mario kart for the wii, both single player and 1v1. The wii was a good purchase for me, since the console and all the games haven't set me back more than a ps3 and one or two games.
