Convince me that I did (or didn't) waste $100 on sunglasses

So I hit the streets of New York to buy a $10 pair of sunglasses before I saw a Sunglass Hut store. The salesperson convinced me (she wasn't pushy though) that the glass (not plastic) lenses on Ray Bans offered superior protection than the sprayed on uv protection of the $10 pairs. I tried them on, liked how they looked, and plopped down $108.80 on them.

now I'm getting that anxious feeling of just wasting money - i have 30 days to return them so, yeah, speak up! Now, I used to be the type who ignored brand names and bought my clothes at target but, now that I'm older and have a decent job I'm appreciating the value of finer quality items (it's silly that my clients would judge me if I wore payless shoes but that's the reality of my work) SO, i'm feeling like it's ok to splurge, but does the rayban really offer superior protection to the corner store special?

Doubt it

Depends on how long they last you. If you take care of them and don't lose or break them, I wouldn't worry about it. If you treat your sunglasses like crap (and lots of people do), $100 is a complete waste.

oh, those looked snazzy but were too sporty for me. I wish oakleys made a more traditional aviator.

Don't worry about it, I bought a flashlight two weeks ago for $130. And's it's only 5 inches tall.

I LOVE my 100$+ raybans. they quality is much better than my cheapie pairs.
I take better care of them too.

^^ $280 and change here, but they look good, and work well and they get me compliments, so money well spent IMO 😀

Yeah...how many times do people LOSE thier sunglasses. Then you have lost a $100 pair as compared to a $10 pair.

I wear prescription sun glasses, so I am extremely careful with mine.

speaking of titanium framed sunglasses - the organization I volunteer at gave me a pair of titanium framed silhouette sunglasses. I've never heard of the brand, are they considered any good? I rarely wear them since they're big on me but I'm just curious.

Nope, it's been proven that even cheapo sunglasses filter out light too although there is little doubt the Rayban's are of higher quality.

The way I look at expensive sunglasses is this... sunglasses are an item you wear on your face and give a clue to the type person you are... why would you want that look to be "cheapskate who wears $10 shades"?

So, yeah I dig my blue mirrored Revos. 😎

Ran Bans makes good quality products. To some people its worth 100.00 plus and to some $10.00 is all they need for reassurance for protection for their eyes. If you have buyer's remorse, then return them.

Do research, then decide. I've also seen on hotdeal sites for geniue Oakelyes, Ray Ban etc for less than you paid. Older models, but if you just want to protect your eyes you might want to check them out.

I tried Fakeleys, Ray Bans, Dragon Optical, and Oakleys fit my needs for driving in sunny Cali and mountain biking. I only buy sunglasses so often. Its worth to me.

Well IMO Rayban's are worth the money if you got it, I used to get the $10 sun glasses from wherever all the time and realized that as often as they broke, it was like buying a $100's worth of sun glasses a year anyways.

I got myself a nice pair of sun glasses (not plastic shyte) and I've had them for about 2 years now, I've dropped them sooo many times it's not even funny and they're still holding up fine.

I'll never get another pair of $10 sun glasses now.

I dont give a fvck what people think about me, let alone based on what I'm wearing. Now granted, I'm generally dressed fairly nice, but fvck spending money to "look good".

funny you mention that, I had a cheapie pair of sunglasses in my bag last week and they got flattened while riding the subway. the fact that my new ones cost so much would probably make me put them in the case and be more careful - thank, you made me feel much better!
