Convience Me to switch to AMD

Ok,

It's time for me to get off my mighty Intel horse and really consider some AMD action. I currently have a thread open about overclocking my 2.4c to 3Ghz or so. What (reality now) would be equilivent to this setup. Would a 3200/64 be quicker to my eyes then the Intel 3.0? I'm now willing to convert.

A 2.4C at 3GHz is probably good enough for most things. The 3200+, though, is meant to compete with a 3.2. If you'd like to overclock that (and if you buy the Winchester, you have no reason not to), you can get 2.6 GHz easily, and that beats pretty much everything at the moment. You'll also be half-ready that way to jump to PCIe when you want to (assuming you buy S939).

See, that's the thing. I have to purchase a new motherboard anyway, and I'm looking at $130 to $180 for the ASUS P4 series. I have been able to find numerious sites where I could pick up a 64 3200+ along with a MSI K8N Neo Plat in the low $300's. Since the socket 478 is now dead, I don't want to throw money down the drain.
