So here is the deal. My g/f got me a copy of convertxtodvd and I installed it with no issues. It seems to convert just fine it just won't burn. It keeps throwing an error message. The tech guy with no information told me I had bad media. I used a pirated copy of this program in the past and liked it so decided to buy it. I tried dvd + - and rw (memorex and fujifilm) I have always been good with memorex n/a on the fujifilm. Nothing. So I downloaded video dvd maker free just to try it. Well that says that it burned the film but voila a blank disk comes out. I have ALOT of blank dvd's sitting around and don't want to buy new disks for a program just because their software doesn't like the media. I can burn cd's just fine. Does the DVD side of burners go bad?? Is there a program that isn't so finicky that can handle so many different formats of video? Any advice is greatly appreciated.

I've been using ConvertXtoDvd 3 for a long time now and I've never encountered any problems with it. I think it's still one of the best video converters out there. You can try DVD Flick as an alternative. Btw, are you using the latest firmware for your burner? Might be a problem with the burner itself in this case.

Ok so the tech after biting his head off came back with more pompous remarks but at least he mentioned something that was useful. He mentioned the internal burning software in xp is off. So now I am trying to fix that. Weird if it is firmware but at the same time would make sense.

So I did a firmware update with no change. Anyone know about this internal xp burning engine? Tech support is a joke. I get better advice in here.
edit-i tried the same file with the same media (last disk about 8 coasters or so) on dvd flick and it couldn't close the dvd. Don't know if this will help figure the issue but if I have to I will buy a new burner.
