We have a huge document written in Wordperfect 8, I need it converted to MS Word, but when we do it loses the Paragraph numbers... Does anybody know of a utility to convert it over and preserve the settings like paragraph numbers and such?

Thanks,

Bobby

How are you trying to convert the document? These are a 3 different things I would try:

#1. try - file, save as - then save the WordPerfect doc as a MS Word doc.
#2. try - open a new doc in MS Word, then Insert ? File.
#3. try - Cut and Paste.

I use #1 to save extensive WP tables into MS Word with no problem.

Back up first, eh.

#1, i can try that, i don't have word pefect, they just sent me the document file.

Is there an option in Wordperfect to save it as a WORD file?

#2. I'll try this later.

#3. I can't open this file in wordperfect to cut and paste.

Thanks for the advice.

Does anybody know if there is a utlility that will just convert it over to Word preserving everything?

Yes, there is an option in Wordperfect to save it as a WORD file if they have installed the necessary file converters. Get them to try it, can't hurt, they'll need to know what version of WORD you are using. Also do a search inside the WORD help function for converting WordPerfect files; sometimes you do loose some of the formatted styles while doing the conversion.
Good luck!
