Converting .wmv --> .mpg, .avi, etc

are their any free programs out there that can do this. video forums recomended canopus procoder but that costs about 5 bills. thanks.
 
Vidomi perhaps; or look on Google for Virtualdub and Virtualdubmod. I don't know if they can read WMV though, but they will output to AVI. There is a BBMPEG plugin for AVI...something AVIsynth I think. That allows for MPEG output, though I don't know how to make it work with other programs.
 
There are several video format conversion and/or editing programs on download.com. I used one once but can't remember which one.

VirtualDub doesn't support .wmv files anymore 🙁

If anyone knows of a program where you can string .wmv clips together as well as converting them, a link would be greatly appreciated 😀
