i used clonedvd 2 to drive so its same vob format, i want to get it to .wmv, but the encoder wants something like a .avi file

so how can i do that.

i also have movie maker and cyberlink power director 3, will either of those let me edit the vob file and transfer it to .wmv or at least avi??

i know there are programs out there that can do that, but i just leave the files as vob files and use theatertek dvd player to play them. but if your wanting to compress them, that's a different story.

.wmv isn't the best quality you know.

You might be better off using something like AutoGK which would make it an avi file with xvid video and mp3 audio. (there's also another audio format but I can't remember what it was).

AutoGK would be super easy.

And whats wrong with an avi file anyway?

i really really dont mean to sound rude or hateful here, but your assuming way too much, i appreciate the info but i'm well aware i'd get better quality from divx, xvid even 3ivx, i have encoded alot of videos in the past but the other encoders along with quality or compressiion size are irrelevant for what i'm needing for my particualar project.....i want .wmv

i did find some 3rd party stuff but its all shareware so i'm restricted, if i can just find a good free prog to get them to .avi i'd be happy cause wm encoder 9 will convert it from there.

With the right decoder chain, Windows Media Encoder 9 should be able to read VOBs. Try installing ffdshow.
