Ok, so i have a Hauppauge WinTV PVR 150MCE card that i got OEM (the MCE doesnt come with any software) I want to now use it to convert my VHS tapes to MPEG2 that I can burn to a DVD.... the problem being that my MCE doesnt recognize the VHS player.... I currently dont have a cable service plugged into the card, and Media Center doesnt know what is going on with it.... is there any other software or anything I can use to record the incoming feed which I plugged in with composite cables from the VHS? LMK any ideas thanks

Well, if nothing else, play the VHS on the tv, record it with a camcorder, and then put it on your computer via firewire.

Okay, I don't know about the hardware exactly, but I've done a lot of this as far as software and encoding goes. PM me when you get to that stage if you want some help. I can give you several freeware options that work a lot better than what you probably have.

Oh yeah, try a program called Virtual VCR. If you have WDM drivers for your capture hardware it should work.
