converting .sdw file into .doc file

I downloaded the newest OpenOffice and was able to open the sdw file. However, whenever I try to save the document as a Word document or anything else, it fails. The program keeps generating errors and crashing. Does anybody know any other ways to convert the file?

What type of file is the .sdw, WP, SS, DB? The file viewer in PowerDesk Pro v.4 (from Vcom) can view 150 or so file formats but I don't know if it can convert. There are several file converter softwares out there, but they aren't cheap.
