Converting from Propane to Natural Gas

We're switching to NG. My furnace and stove run on propane right now. I already bought the spuds for the stove. So we basically need the furnace kit installed, the stove tweaked, and pipework connecting the meter to our gas line.

They quoted a little over $400, and they forgot to include anything about the stove.

Am I being ripped off, or is this a good deal?

Your property value will increase by more than $400 for making the conversion. That should soften the blow regardless... :)

Well the lot is leased, so I don't think it is affecting my property value.

So why are you paying for improvements to the landlords property? I don't really know what the cost difference/BTU is between NG & propane, so don't know if you'll make it back reasonably on fuel costs alone.

But back to the original post ... doesn't sound bad for gas work. How far do they have to run the line to the meter? Underground?

The gas company already ran the underground pipe and setup the meter for free. Now I need to connect that meter to my home and convert my furnance and stove from propane to natural gas. That's what they're quoting.

I'm not paying for improvements to the landlords property. I'm paying for switching to natural gas since some of my appliances can use it - and when we first moved the mobile in one of the rules was no propane tanks - but we had to get them since that is what the appliances used and it was winter - we needed heat.

$400 is pretty good if they do both furnace and stove.
Have them throw in a free PM check on the furnace (check heat exchanger)

What does PM stand for?
