converting flv file to something a bit more normal????

So I'm just getting the hang of this d/ling google videos..........(milk challenge in particular...he he he)........and I wanna convert it to divx or wmv or something more normal, but virtual dub doesn't recognize flv files.........(yes, I was sure to rename the google vid file after I d/l it so it actually *shows* a ".flv" extension).


Anybody got a good method??


P.S. I still don't understand why Google wouldn't want to take some of the burden off of their servers & allow people to localize vids so that folks can waste their own hard drives/bandwidth/time sharing videos after a one-time d/l off of Google's servers. (confuzzled)

Google has infinite amount of bandwidth and servers... they just don't care if you're wasting their bandwidth or space...
