i am looking for a program which will allow me to easily convert a dvd movie (the movie only) into divx/xvid format easily... i tried to use gordian knot but for some reason after following a guide step by step the only output i ever got for the avi file was a 3.2 mb file and it wouldn't even play.. i told it to use the codecs which i installed and everything, is there any other program that anybody can recommend?

You can try autogk, but once you learn what you're doing in regular gk, it's very simple and gives you more options. I'd suggest giving it another shot.

Dr. Divx is easy to figure out, but it's not free. I've used both AutoGK and Fairuse as well, and they work equally as good being freeware.

I utilize GordianKnot for helping with certain things for me like bitrate and crop settings and then I make my own avisynth scripts based on a few factors. I then load that into VirtualDub/VirtualDubMod/Nandub, depending on codecs I'm using, to encode... I like having fuller control over the output, moreso than GordianKnot and especially AutoGordianKnot can allow.

AutoGordianKnot is great for beginners or people that aren't anal about it though, I recommend it.
