I have a several DVD's that I would like to convert to a video file such as a .avi or .wmv, etc. Can I get some recommendations on software that I can use to convert my DVD's to video files? Thank you.
I won't comment to any specific methods of backing up your DVDs to the harddrive however there are plenty of commercial options as well as software floating around. For conversions however, Handbrake is a great way to convert your dvd .VOB files to h.264 and it's free.
Option a), all freeware: DVD Decrypter will rip the discs to your HDD. You can take it from there with Handbrake.
Option b), costs may be involved: Use DVDFab as a one-in-all tool to rip and transcode.
