Converting coaxial to composite?

I have an old video capture card with a composite input, but want to use it as a TV tuner on my computer. Is there a way to put input a coaxial cable (for cable TV) into the card, other than using a VCR perhaps? I'd prefer something compact so it doesn't rob me of much desk space..so is there something that would do this, as well as provide channel changing capabilities? The latter seems to be a bit of a stretch from a device..

I've always used a VCR - just because it's cheap. You can buy stand-alone transcoders, but they run like $20 at BB.

EDIT: But those stand-alone ones I've seen don't let you change channels. My vote is to find/use a small VCR.

If you have basic analog cable, a VCR is probably your best option. If you have sat/digital cable, use the STB's composite out.
