does anyone know if this is possible? i made the mistake of converting my aim to an aol account a while back & now i am cancelling aol, but i dont know if i can keep the screen name. anyone have any suggestions or clues?

i believe that you can use it as an aim name forever as long as you had it registered, it just isn't an aol sn any more...like you can use an aol name as an aim name, then if the aol service is cancelled, that's what youra sking right?? anyhew, yeah i think you can keep the sn

yea, i want to cancel the aol mail account but keep the old screen name. id still be able to keep the old sn? the only way i can think of is to cancel & wait six months for the screen name to clear & resign under aim again...am i wrong?

I don't think AOL screen names expire. Or at least they didn't used to.

That's why just about every new name is "Joe4564345345346092u52".

not sure you can do it. I had an aol account which I cancelled. AOL wanted $2.95 a month for me to keep my SN. I said screw that. It's been over a year and my old AOL sn is still registered. I dont think I can ever get it back without paying. They're shady like that.

You used to be able to keep your AIM screenname but not anymore. I found that out this year.

AND if you log onto the real AOL with your old screenname then they reactive your account and start charging you again 🙂

wow that sucks big time...this was a screen name given to me by my fiance too...what a shame...thanks for the replies all
