converting a MIDI?

compress a midi? if you made a wave file out of it and then mp3'd the wave file you'd end up with a larger file than the original midi.

he wants it to be a wav or MP3 so that he can put it on a music CD, it wont let him burn the MIDI. is there a program to convert it to WAV format?

The best way to make a wav/mp3 from a midi is to play it in a media player and use Goldwave to record the output...

I'm sure you could also use another sound program, but Goldwave is the one I know works for me...

There is a program the would directly convert a midi file to a wav file but I forget what it was called. I will search for it..........

<< why would you ever want to play a midi on a CD >>

i have no idea, i told him it wouldn't sound very good, but he doesn't care

I needed a clip like that. A midi converted to wav. We were basically going to use it for Karioka type purposes. A midi effectivly gets rid of all voice. Also, a midi can sound excellent for the right source. A piano or organ solo on a good sound card can sound absolutly perfect.

Trouble is, I could not find a single program to do the job for free. All the shareware demos would only record about 40 seconds.

thanks for the help guys. i couldn't find anything on vgmusic, but he's going to try the gold wave program

the songs he's trying to convert he got from vgmusic , lol
