Converting a laptop display

I posted this on the Video forum, and didn't get any response.
Does anyone have any ideas on how to do this?
I have an old compaq armada laptop that is totally outdated. Is there any practical way to use the display as a desktop monitor?

It is not practical and it is on the expensive side to make use of the LCD panel.

To use the LCD requires a dedicated controller for the particular LCD panel mfg,
invertor, and the fashioning of a cable for the desired output connection.
(resolution, timing and scanning have to match the LCD panel in use)

There are kits available with everything required (but are very expensive).

Depending on the age of the Laptop, if it is not a TFT display panel it is not worth the effort.
