I never really understand a car's braking ability to stop from 70mph as much as if it's in 60mph..so is there any sort of possible conversion or trends people notice between the two?

Kinetic energy varies as speed^2, so you can probably approximate the braking distance at 60 mph by dividing the distance at 70 mph by (70/60)^2

This won't be exact, but it should give you some idea.

If your 60-0 braking distance is 118 feet and at 120 feet you happen to stop short of a 5 foot thick brick wall you can assume that 70-0, and in fact 80-0 both are 120 feet :D

Multiply by .735.

I make no promises as to the accuracy of the above information.
