Converting 2 HDD to RAID 0 array

I have 2-120GIG IDE drives. I want to convert them to RAID 0 array (striping) to increase performance. Question is....do I have to backup and reformat both drives and completely wipe them to get this done prior to setup in a RAID configuration?. ...or is there a way to convert to RAID 0 without losing everything. The operating system is Win XP Pro and my MOBO ASUS PCP800 Deluxe is setup for RAID.

yes, whenever you break or create an array you blow away all the contents

you need to use a program like ghost or just copy everything you want somewhere else

p.s. wrong forum

Yes, you need to completely wipe both drives prior to adding them to a RAID.

Well, you don't need to, the contents of both drives will go away on their own 😛
