I'm staring down the barrel of a dissertation that virtually has to be written in LaTeX to meet my school's formatting standards. I'm relatively new to the whole TeX thing and have lots of material that I could simply cut and paste, but it's all in MS Word document files. Does anyone know of a good converter? Even if I have to pay something for it, it would probably be a good investment at this point. I've tried GrindEQ, but it took me longer to reformat one of its conversions than it would have to simply write it from scratch in TeX. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Why not use .TXT as a common denominator? Ie., have the originating LATEX of whatever that is, save the file as ASCII text. Then use whatever you want to reformat it.

This might help:

Convert

And this:

Thanks... That converter is much better than any of the other ones I've tried. I might have to shell out a few bucks, but it should be worth it.

When you are doing something that can effect your entire future, a few bucks should not be an obstacle. Good luck with that dissertation!

What discipline?

A few bucks wouldn't be an obstacle if I had a few bucks. I've been in college for almost 8 years now, so the couch cushions aren't giving it up like they used to. :p

Chemical engineering/ophthalmology.

Looks like Corkyg has a Hot Deal coming, when you graduate, for his help! A new pair of self cleaning eyeglasses would be sweet!

<Back to the Future>When I'm done, we won't need glasses!</Back to the Future>

Seriously though. I'm working on prosthetic lenses that could (theoretically) replace the need for LASIK, IOLs, glasses, contacts, bifocals, and reading glasses.
