Convert VOB files to DivX avi files

Last year, I ripped all of my Star Trek, Futurama, Simpsons, etc. episodes from the DVDs to my storage server for ease of playback on my HTPC. It all works great, except that they take up a ton of room.

The files are all individual VOB files that correspond to an episode. I would like to convert these files to DivX or another format that will take up a lot less room. A typical half hour episode takes up a gig or more of space. :)

Anyone have any suggestions for an app that will do this? The applications I have found seem to be far to overinvolved or focused on ripping entire DVDs.

Thanks.

Get DVD Decrptor and Auto Gordain Knott from doom9.org.

Rip the VOBs from your DVDs with decryptor in IFO mode (will allow you to pull indidual episodes and such off the DVDs).

Then use AGK to convert to DIVX.

doom9.org has a guide that explains it step by step in their guides section under Divx.

something like h.264 could save you some space by giving you the same quality with a smaller file than DivX. take a look at MeGUI (also at Doom9).
