Convert VCD to .mp4

I'm trying to convert a VCD into something that I can just take out the audio track of the VCD to put on my iPod. Or would it be easier to just convert it and just use the video. Any programs to help with that? Thanks...

Will ripping it, encoding it into mp4, then taking just the audio track the easiest way? Please tell me there is an easier way.

Go into the VCD and look for a .dat file, should be 500+ megabytes. Copy it to your C drive and rename it as a .mpg file, then download Handbrake and use that to make a mp4.
