Convert OGM to AVI

I need to convert several OGM files (ogg video's) into AVI's. The OGM's are basically Divx files that I want to make into the AVI format so I can play them on my DVD player (which also supports Divx, only not the OGM file format).

I think I can use Virtual Dub Mod right? And then save it as a AVI and Audio, then make the audio into something readable my a DVD player (like MP3/AAC) then combine the two again.

Right??? (use to know how to do it)
 
OGM is basically avi with ogg audio instead of mp3. Since avi doesn't support ogg natively, and since people just love to be assholes and ruin perfectly good standards, Matroska was born. Use VirtualDubMod to separate the audio from the video, convert the ogg to mp3 however you like, and recombine the two into an avi.

Note - ogg is a fine audio codec, significantly better than mp3. But because we're talking about compressed video here and not audiophile grade music, and since it's a virtually unsupported standard, it's ridiculous and presumptuous to use this retarded format.

Another question, what program can I use to make the ogg file into something readable by a DVD player (like AC3/MP3)

Anyone??? (software dead tonight??, I guess software just isn't as popular and I have nothing better to do then bump a post 30min later)
 
I use dBPowerAmp to convert audio, but there are a number of converters available. If VDub isn't giving you enough options it's because you need the lame or fraunhofer ACM installed. It's basically a framework that tells various encoder front ends which codec and which version of it you have on your PC. BTW I suggest fraunhofer, last i remember vdub and lame didn't get along, some kind of bug or other.
 
i have lame but its just a command line tool. i could try frauenhofer but how do i compress the audio in a video file with either of them?
