convert mp3 or wav to midi

Does anyone know if its posible to convert an mp3 or wave file to a midi? and does anyone know of any software to do it?

there have been a few programs that have attempted to... midi is a synthesized format with key tones... the conversion process is not pretty. None of the free ones did it for me successfully so I gave up.

If you're looking to do it because of ringtones, you may want to go the route of 3rd party apps that play mp3s as ringtones instead.

hrm ya I was trying to do it for a ringtone. What i wanted to do is the the aqua teen theme and make it into a midi so then it could eventualy be used on my motorola cell phone that supports polyphonic ringtones only. I found one free program after searching google cant rember what it was called but it didnt work very well. The theme itself is actualy a simple theme to make but no one has done it yet for some reason and I have no music talent so i cant do it

I would be able to help you with the 3rd party app if it were a PalmOS PDA phone... but it doesn't look like it...
