Was just wondering if anyone has, or knows of a programs to convert M3U fiels to MP3 files? So far the only thing i know that works is to open them with Windows Media Player and while the files playing click 'save as...' then save it as an mp3 or wav file. I have around 3000 M3U files i would love to convert to MP3's or WAV's so i can sue them in my music programs, but doing that with 3000 files is very disheartening. I havent been able to find any programs that do it, so any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

This is not a highly technical question. This belongs in the software forum.

Well excuse the hell out of me for posting it in a forum that i assumed would have 'smarter' people answering it. Also, i would like to thank you for adding your vast knowledge to my post.

And, yes, LsD, an M3U file is a playlist file. Its used by osme sites to let you download the file to here the sample of music you downloaded, but so that you cant use it in any other programs, such as fruity loops, acid, or even burn it as an MP3.

m3u file is a text file... your question doesn't make any sense.

This doesn't belong in any forum.

M3U is a playlist file.

Websites that sell loops and samples for music creation us it so that you can download it and listen to the file, but no music programs support the use of M3U files, therefore you cannot use them in any music you create. As i said before, you can play them in media player and save them as an MP3 or WAV, but for 3000+ M3u files that takes a lot of boring work. I was curious if anyone had a 'highly technical' solution.

Its a good thing the replies I've gotten so far are greatly useful.

Kwestyuns, you need a serious attitude adjustment. My initial reply was neither nasty, nor sarcastic. It was simple and straight to the point. This is a forum for highly technical questions - on the order of quantum mechanics, philosphy, complicated magnetics etc.

A question regarding file conversion belongs in the software forum.

Perhaps someone with 7 posts should lurk a bit longer before opening their mouth and sticking their foot in it.

LsDPulsar is 100% right kwetyuns, if you had read the sticky on this forum you would know it has nothing to do with how to, but more to do with how/why things work on the molecular/architectural level and things like that.

Also an M3U is just a text document. Meaning you dont have the actual music file on your computer, so how do you expect to create a batch to download the music files and save them?

My question is why on earth do you have 3000 playlist files?

Well,

I'm a big enough man to apologize for 1, Posting in the wrong forum, and 2. My initial response. Also, just because i have 7 posts doesnt mean i havent read this site for years. However, i didnt realize this forum was used for the discussion of quantum physics and the ability to create nuclear fission out of a recyclying bin filled with 10 farad capacitors.

Also, thank you very much phisrow.

Also, i was pretty hammered last night when i posted this and was pissed off about having to re-save 3000 M3U files to MP3's. :(

It is physically impossible to create a fission reactor out of capacitors. You don't have any fissle material there.
