I have office 365 installed on my system now but the subscription is up for renewal and I can get office 2013 for free where I work. Does anyone know the procedure for switching? 365 shows up as 2013 in the programs list so I'm sure it is basically the same install but I'd like to not have to reinstall and set-up email again, etc. if possible. Is there a way to just use the new key?

From MS support-
Office 365 Home Premium and Office Standard are two different suites with different applications within it. Hence the product key will not match each other's installation.
So in order to change the suite, Office 365 Home Premium needs to be uninstalled and then Office 2013 Standard can be re-installed.

Note: The files and documents created using Office 365 Home Premium will stay intact.
Outlook emails and other information will also be available after the re-installation as only the installation files are remove and re-installed. The Outlook settings and data will not be tampered.

Yeah, much of the time you have to uninstall previous office to make a new one work right.

I did the swap and everything between 365 and 13 went smoothly but uninstalling 365 broke my office 03 install which annoys me since the one thing I used constantly was the imaging/scanner/OCR tool that is not in newer versions. Why uninstalling 365 should corrupt my 03 install is crazy...

When I upgraded to Win 8 my 2010 stopped working and I could not reinstall it nor 2003.

Going to 2013 fixed everything.
