Convert 5.25" to 3.5" or 2.5" ? CM Scout 2 Adv.

Hey all. Question regarding optimal setup for my hard drivex in my case.

I was planning on getting a Storm Scout 2 Adv. Yesterday I jumped on one of the 1070 sales from Jet.com. Got the Asus ROG strix. Unfortunately didn't think to look at card dimensions before I acted, just wanted to get the deal in before it expired.

Anyway it will fit in the case but I have to take out the main HDD cage which houses 4 3.5" bays. The remaining cage will have 3x3.5" bays and I can convert them into 2.5" with adapters provided if needed.

My hdd setup to start will be 2x SSDs, and 2xHDD in raid 0.

Was planning on converting one of the 5.25" bays to house either, as I don't have anything to put there.

Should I put the 2 SSDs in the remaining cage, which is at the bottom of the case, and put the HDD's up top in a converted 5.25" bay? Or the other way around? (SSDs up top in the 5.25" and HDD's in the bottom reg cage)

1st priority is cooling, 2nd is which is more practical. 5.25" -> 3.5" or 5.25" -> 2.5"

In the picture here, you can see the main cage removed for the video card, with the bottom cage remaining with 3 x 3.5" bays and 2.5" adapters

Of the two options you presented, I would put the 3.5" HDDs in the regular cage and put the two 2.5" SSDs in the 5.25" bay. (re: airflow).

But with that mentioned, why not convert one of the bottom 3.5" bays to 2 x 2.5"? Then you would have 2 x 3.5" and 2 x 2.5" SSDs all in the same cage (which might make your cabling neater).

Or you could take one of the 3.5" bays (in the bottom cage) and use the following adapter with it.

Hmm, ya know I thought about that briefly but then wrote it off as being too tight (the space between drives) and creating too much heat. Especially if I raid the HDDs. What do you think? Your scenario is perfect otherwise. I'm not an expert on HDD heat, just seemed logical to me.

The case comes with a few 2.5 to 3.5 adapters and you can attach 2 SSDs on one (same thing you linked, just dont have to buy it).
