Conversion to solar powered light?

Ok, in my front yard I currently have a gas lamp and the gas line has a leak in it. I've shut off the gast to the lamp and instead of replacing the line, which would mean digging up a long strip of my lawn, I was thinking of buying some sort of kit to convert the lamp over to solar power. Of course that will mean ripping out all the workings for the gas part and putting in some sort of battery and light source. My question is where do I get this kind of stuff? My first thought was to try Radio Shack for the solar components and battery but I didn't have any luck there. Anyone have some suggestions on where to look or how to go about this?
