I am thinking of a budged around $400, I have Case and monitor for this.

I need sugestion on mainboard processor and video card, and to match performance size speed of memory.

please advice.. not sure what Intel or AMD ... 32 bit or 64 bit prossesors.. what is good for economy convertion system.

The best hardware for video either encoding or converting or even as simple as editing, is a dual core system. Next will be an AMD64 and then intel's Pentium 4's. Of course, you always want to go with the highest CPU rating you can afford.

Thank you Jiggz, I did buy AMD 64 3000+ Venice 1.8GZ E6 Mem, and 1GB Ram with it. yestoday got system up and runing, dint test convertion speed yet.

Is video car effect convertion speed? it was my main question. I always thot it did, not sure now

nope video card doesnt matter... its cpu speed that matters the most

but more/faster ram helps, and so does a faster harddrive

I have sata installed also, so i guese i should be ok.. thank you all for taking your time.. for some reason i thot that video card has something to do with convertion also.. now its all cleared out for me.

Thanks
