CPUs are more imp than you think

Says who? For gaming, at least, GPUs have been way more important for at least three years. Plus, if you bought the flagship i7 the same time I shelled out for my i5-760 (2 years ago) even for his video stuff there's not that much a difference (save power and heat). CPUs are not nearly as important for the mainstream enthusiast/gamer as GPUs are.

Depends on game.If u are a strategy gamer u need a good cpu.IIRC witcher 2 is also very dependent on cpu.

If you actually play on a good CPU then you won't be able to go back to a crappy CPU. PERIOD It makes a huge difference. And overclocking persay doesn't make much difference to the experience, at least nothing compared to the architecture and core. No matter how high you overclock A i7 880, the experience will be worse than a 2600k or perhaps even 2500k at stock.

Its more of a challenge, yields better results. I know first gen SB are less efficient.

You have to consider mem timings, vtt volts, vdimm volts, ratios, pll volts and vcore.
The challenge part i agree, but better results not so much. Also making a thing more accessible isn't necessarily bad.

I believe you misunderstood what I implied. I didn't try to get the OP to buy a new GPU rather then a new CPU.

What I intended my message to mean is that IF you are buying the latest cpu anyways buy the latest generation of gpu to accompany it.

Agreed. But isn't he with a first gen i3? :)

Maybe I misinterpreted? I read this:

System Specifications:

I. Processor/CPU: Core i7 3770K
II. Current Graphics Card: -N/A-
III. Display Resolution: (24”) 1920 x 1200 AND (19”) 1280x1024
Samsung 24" 245BW / Dell Ultrasharp 19"

IV. Power Supply Unit specifications: Corsair 620W HX
V. Case Specifications: P180

So I thought if he already has a new IB why not buy the latest gpu, GTX 600 series or AMD 7000 series....

The last 12 posts or so we ended up in sidetrack hell, lol.

Thank you very much for your help.

So my build would be

Asus P8Z77-V Deluxe or Pro
Intel Core i7 3770K
Gskill 32gb (4x8gb)
XFX Radeon Double D 7850

I do not think I will ever need 32gb of ram but it is cheap right now so I would max out on it and hopefully adobe can suck up as much as possible.

Thanks again for all your help :D

XFX is not the brand I'd buy (MSI, Asus or Sapphire)

STAY AWAY from XFX

XFX is absolute crap.

Don't hold back guys. Tell us how you really feel. :p

I understand your concern, guys. You do need to pick these cards carefully. Some models are built on budget boards. XFX is one of the brands that does that. It's one of XFX's top sku's with lifetime warr. It's not going to be built on a budget board. OP wants dual DVI and that's the card that has it.

A possible con is I can't find where anyone has O/C'd it with voltage. Every review easily maxes out CCC, but that's only 1050MHz. I'd want to find out for sure if it can be overvolted and clock beyond CCC limits, myself. Leaving too much performance on the table.

Every company does some cost cutting measures here and there but for XFX they have taken it to a different level altogether. They have x cards for the same model and u have to pick out a letter "A","B","C"... among them to distinguish. They use cheaper components in their boards.

In every review/ video card comparison I've seen the XFX is the hottest card. This limits its ability to oc. And lets be clear, if you aren't going to oc your card and you are buying AMD's 7000 series YOU HAVE RIPPED YOURSELF OFF.
