Nobody's in horror that I'm aware of. You're just being overly emotional again. Is there something wrong with you you'd like to share with us?

Other than getting tired of people looking for something to be upset about (like the 100 or so petition signers or you), no, can't say there is. But thanks for your 'concern'.

If you are going to try that at least base it in some reality.

The real reason is some people don't want to see a dude in his tighty whities. You know the same crowd that objects to bikini babes serving coffee. Usually prudish conservatives.

Ummm, Wellesley College????

The fail is strong in this one.

Feminists have yet to find the thing they cannot be offended by.

Some of them seem to have no problem overlooking sexual misconduct (or the allegations of the same) from "pro-feminist" male politicians. Bill Clinton and Bob Packwood come to mind. Those guys got cut a ton of slack.

so I could shit in my hand, smear it on my naked body, and then walk through campus and as long as I call it "art", its ok?

Yes, that's exactly right. Something like that was done in SF at an art show, a fellow shit on a piece of cardboard and called it art. They displayed it.

Tony Matelli does good work. Hyperrealist sculpture always conjures strong reactions. It happened to Ron Mueck's body of work and it is one of the main reasons why an artist finds it attractive.

What separates the men from the boys is when you can get a grant for doing that.

While I also favor artistic expression and encouraging students to expose themselves to art that causes some discomfort, I also appreciate students not wanting art that many consider personally distasteful dominating a busy point on campus. This is their campus, and they should have some input in how it looks. If some artist wants to call a 5 foot high steaming pile of shit art, and a college finds value in it and wants to display it in an art gallery, go ahead. If professors want to assign their students to go look at it and write about their responses, that's fine, but don't put the thing right in the middle of campus.

My niece just graduated from there and she says everyone there loves it. Its a bronze statue that someone has painted and dressed.

Why is the male wearing a skirt... If the statue is a cross-dressing bisexual, it doesn't make the womenz feel threatened?

Naaah - at least, not until it develops better fashion sense..
