controlling laptop with pocket pc

hello everyone,

I have a msi ms 1029 and my friend that has the same laptop has bought a remote control for it that can turn it on, off, volume up/down, etc like that. now my bro that has another laptop is using his cingular 8125 pocket pc fone to control his laptop. he said that there is a program for pocket pc's that if you find the frequency or w/e like THAT for infared that for the laptop will be in control be the pocket pc. now i have a pocket pc hp ipaq rx 3700. he had told me that the program he uses works for all versions of pocket pc o.s. but the problem is my bro is dumb and he wont tell me what the program is called so can u help me. thanks in advance.
