Control Panel doesn't see my new SSD

I just installed a new Kingston HyperX 3k ssd in my puter. The first time I booted into Windows 7 it was detected and Windows installed driver software. The ssd shows up in "Device Manager". It shows up in the system bios. It does not show up under "My Computer". Am I being stupid here? Do I need to format it for it to show up under "My Computer" so I can use it???
