control + alt + delete screen problem

When i hit control + alt + delete to bring up the screen with what programs are running and to see what accounts are logged on it comes up for about 2 seconds then disappears. I see the icon in the bottom right showing that its still running, but when i take my mouse down there to click on it, it disappears! Anybody had this problem before? And if so, what can i do to make it stay up!?

Try this:

OK. I figured mine out. I had to get a process manager: EF Process Manager http://www.efsoftware.com/pm/e.htm and looked for the files i didnt recognize. There were a few, but the one that got my taskbar back to normal was one called klsys.exe . I killed that process and then did a search for it. It was hidden in my c:\winnt\system folder with its own folder called sys data (yes, with a space in the middle) and there were about 10 files in there. No trojan or virusscanner had anything about these files. I passed 6 diff scanners. I deleted the folder and been fine since then! No clue what loaded it, but it really messed me up. You may find something in process manager called ran.exe, it is part of the same group of files! Now i feel much better! Good luck to anyone else who can use this!
