Control 4 computers with one keyboard, mouse, and monitor

i have a cybex Personal Commander II which was given to me. i went to cybex website, but found NO reference of it except in the request for information which i sent to them. it was explained ot me that i can control up to 4 computers with one monitor, keyboard, and mouse AND be able to switch between them electronically. problem is on the back the only output is a parallel port male connector. now i DOUBT that i can control my computers through the parallel port, so i didnt spend the money on parallel cables at compusa. i asked a tech there what it does, and he tried to say its sorta likea hub. hahaha, he was like, "you use network neighborhood to control the computers" hahahaha. i dont even know if he knows that these peripherals exist.

so if you know anything abotu this product, or what attachment i need, i would REALLY appreciate it, thanks.

First off, I would take anything that a chump working for minwage at compuUSA says.

Second, it sounds like you have a parallel port switch box, meaning you can share a printer or another parallel port device such as a scanner between two or more PC's.

You need a dataswitch box that will handle PS/2 ports and video capabilities. Belkin is one company that comes to mind that offers one such data switch.

I will warn you though that they can start to get quite costly the more PC's that you add. You'll have to buy 2 PS/2 cables for each PC, a fairly expensive shielded video cable for each computer, and the switch box itself.

I'll suggest going for a digital switch, meaning you push a button, as apposed to analog - IE turning a knob. From my experience, the analog switches are fairly unreliable and often times cause lockups which switching between signals.

The site itself does not provide enough information to tell me how it interfaces w/ the other computers.

It looks proprietary, meaning it requires special cables made by Cybex.

yea htanks vi, i saw that on the website, and came here to post i found it

also, i found the cables, they are VERY expensive, but i think i have a way around it

15' cables cost $60 a piece, so i decided to get the 8' version, which are $20 a piece, and just get some extensions for those cables, like the ps/2, vga, and stuff like that. besides, i can only use the cybex cables for that product whilei can use the extensions any time i need. i cant believe this thing is worth 450!! im definitly gonna thank my cousin for real.

i bought a 4-comp switchbox and 4 sets of mouse, keyboard, and video cables all for $65 at the computer show.
