Seems like they're all numbnuts. This guy started out great, got lots of work done in a short amount of time, but the past 2 months he's been very intermittent, rarely coming when he says he's going to, not calling when he's not going to show, etc.. Very irresponsible.

Seems like everyone I talk to who has hired a contractor for any kind of addition, basement work, etc., has bad things to say.

In any case, I just finished up 95% of the painting, just have to do some touch up on the baseboard. Carpeting is coming in tomorrow AM, and a new countertop for workspace will (hopefully) be in Thursday or Friday - and I'll finally have my new office.

Been working partially out of a spare bedroom and partially out of the unfinished quarter of the basement since I moved to the new house (about 5 months ago), so I'm dying to finally get settled in there.

Still have 8 or so Ikea boxes of office stuff to assemble once I'm in - can't wait!

Anyway, just ranting.

I hired a neighbor for an addition to my house. He came highly recommended and I figured since he lived down the street I could keep tabs on him. He showed up every day to put in a full days work until it was done and everything came out exactly as expected with no headaches.

I'm never going to hire a contractor again in my life, the odds are against me and all the problems I should have had this time will probably all happen the next time I need something done.
