even with the 99 lives code, I still can't beat it on normal. that stage 6 boss is crazy. anyone beat this yet?

I thought Contra on the PS2 was the hardest, but it pales in comparison to this

I think the dual screen aspect makes it almost frustratingly difficult. Really don't like that it almost forces you to "practice" the levels. Let's save that for Ikaruga.

LOVE this game! got it when it came out and still have not beat it on normal. my brother has, he has gotten really good.
try to beat as many challenge modes as you can and practice a lot, thats the only way to go.
i got it when it came out and i'm still playing it. it also seems harder when there are 2 players because there's just more goin on on the screen.

I recently dusted this game off and beat it on Easy, but haven't tried to go through on Normal yet. I've been busy trying to complete all of the challenges, which I think is a cool extra feature (especially since they unlock playable versions of Contra and Super C, among other things).

I can't even get past the first level on normal. It's fucking annoying so I stopped playing.

Right, so it's a classic contra game... which was out long before Ikaruga.

I agree. My friend and I both bought it the day it came out. We smoked through easy but when we went to the hardest difficulty it became insanely difficult. The only thing we could do was die over and over just to memorize what was going on.

...except not. My point was that the dual screen makes it much harder (for me anyway) than any of the classic Contra games. I don't remember having too much trouble beating the old Contras, but maybe I'm just not as good as I used to be.

well i finally beat this game on Normal difficulty. Easy difficulty only gives you 6 stages, Normal gets you all 9. Even with 99 lives I ended up having 8 left at the end. Stage 9 is near impossible. I think the only other way to beat it is to inch forward real slow and kill enemies one by one... that would suck though.

anyway, done deal and off it goes on ebay :)
