continuous flashing LED on my TEAC CDRW? any ideas???

Does anyone know why the LED on the front of my TEAC 8x8x32 drive is blinking every 2-3 seconds with no disc in and it is not trying to write? i am stumped! thanks in advance!

check to see if the cable is attached properly and no pins are bent. also make sure that it is not master while another drive is master on the same cable, the same goes for slave. my guess is that it's looking for a cd. does it behave normally when a cd is inside and does it burn correctly?
 
I have the same drive and noticed it did that when I had auto-insert notification on in Windows ME. When I turned auto-insert notification off, it stopped blinking. Not sure if it is a suppose to do that, got real annoying after a while 🙂
