Background:

1) I have had a rocketmail account since 1994 timeframe. Rocketmail is what became Yahoo Mail, and only recently has Yahoo allowed for new Rocketmail addresses.

2) yes I get spam. And yes it's annoying, but, normally, it goes away as yahoo adopts and changes their filters.

3) This year I am getting a pile of small tiny spams with absolutely revolting subject matters such as bestiality ... but the worst type of bestiality in the worst imaginable way.

4) This has gone on for most of this year and Yahoo has not adapted. I get one of these every 30 minutes.

5) I am tempted to close the account but with this account being used so many places, it would be painful.

QUESTION: Why has suddenly the worst most awful type of spam gone unnoticed by Yahoo ? Why has the cat and mouse game gone totally to the mouse? I'm getting fed up but I suppose I should cancel the email account and just deal with the consequences such as all the message boards that I will be locked out of.
 
Yahoo's captcha is currently broken (as is googles and MS's). This has greatly increased the amount of spam flowing...

fwiw, i still get practically nada with gmail, however.
 
You're right, i'm not going to let them beat me and give up this address.

The spam is particularly vile, I mean, EXTREMELY vile. It's not subjects referrencing "typical" heterosexual or homosexual behaviors, it's loaded with all kinds of extremely nasty stuff.
 
You could always create a gmail address and have yahoo forward all emails to the gmail. You'll get some extra spam protection from that, and it will give you time to move all your online accounts over to your new address without having to worry about not getting those emails from the old address.

Ah, the innocence of youth...

and btw, it is ADAPTED not ADOPTED. Adapted = changed to fit the new conditions. Adopted = made someone legally your child.
