Yesterday, I was called by a friend to see a PC which didnt boot. When turned on, it simply produces a long beep that only stops when turned off again. According to the owner, a technician tested another RAM and the problem persisted, also removed the installed internal modem without success. I was pretty confident that it was a defective CPU, tried replacing it with a working one, but found the same beep. I googled about the possible meaning, but the only thing I can find is "No power, loose card or short".
Can somebody clarify a bit about this problem? The motherboard has no cards besides the modem, and the PSU is quite poor and missing the extra 4 pins in the large connector, but this PC has been working perfectyl with it for a couple of years. What should I recommed, replace all mb/cpu and RAM?
