Contesting a speeding ticket.... some questions

gopunk

Lifer
how long does it take to get a response from them? i sent them my ticket with the "contest" box checked on about the 4th or 5th of january.... how do i know if they received it? because on the back of the ticket it had all this bad stuff that would happen to me if i don't respond... what if it got lost in the mail? i got a certificate of mailing...

i was thinking i should call the courthouse but then i heard that if you don't get a court date within 60 days then you're off, so i don't want to remind them to process mine or anything 😛

usually 45-70 days.

one thing i learned dearly is that, if you ever get any speeding ticket, always contest it.

I'm not telling you to lie, your sheer presence @ the court will likely reduce the penalty/slice the fine.

And before all that, don't get a ticket.

jesus that's a long time. yea i'm def. going to contest it because of insurance... not only would my rates go up but in a few months i'll get a safe driver's discount (if the ticket gets dismissed, that is). so i'm just going to request the records, make sure everything was filed within 48 hours of the ticket issue time, make sure the court date is within 90 days of the infraction... if they did everything right then i'll just get lawyer.
