Hello,

With the permission of the Moderators, we've decided to launch a contest for Anandtech members. We need a new logo and letterhead for our company, and will pay $100 to the best logo submission. For those of you talented with Illustrator and/or Photoshop, this is could be the easiest $100 you've ever made.

Background to keep in mind when designing the logo: Our company name is ROOP Audio Labs. We design and consult audiophile systems, and are a broker and dealer for a select few audiophile brands in the Manhattan and Brooklyn areas of NYC. We will also open our doors soon to a boutique showroom and listening studio.

Please look at audiophile equipment pictures at the following website to have a better understanding of our products:
http://www.audiogon.com (click on various categories and browse the classified ads)

Also, please look at other audiophile dealer websites:
www.symphonysound.com
www.goodwinshighend.com
www.vmpseurope.com

We're looking for a logo and letterhead with a clean, sophisticated design. Nothing flashy and colorful, but minimalistic and elegant. The contest will run for exactly one week (March 30, 2AM EST), and is open to all Anandtech members.

Please send all submissions here: eMail
Please title all submissions: Logo Contest Submissions

The winner will receive payment via corporate check or via PayPal (winner's choice). ROOP Audio Labs will pay for all mailing/transaction fees. The winning member and logo design will be posted in this thread at the end of the contest - the $100 prize will be mailed out with a tracking number or sent via PayPal within 2 business days of the end of the contest.

UPDATE: 03.23 9AM EST:
A vector logo (i.e. designed on Illustrator) is the preferred format of submission, but a dynamic logo designed on Photoshop (with all layering preserved) is acceptable as well. I only need to see a single graphic file for the submission, but the winner will be expected to be able to provide either one of the above two file formats.

UPDATE: 03.23 10AM EST:
Regarding posting submissions here: Anandtech forums don't allow the direct posting of graphical images. If you are hesitant to send a file, please send an email with the same title as specified above, but include a link instead of a graphical file.

The winning submission will become property of ROOP Audio Labs, LLC. The winner will be able to include the logo design for the purposes of a portfolio or example of excellent work.

NOTE: We're also looking for a website developer. Please email privately to discuss, including links to your work.

Kind Regards,

Rup

I'm not sure how this will go over. People have been burned by money for logo threads in this forum b4. God, I'd give my left sock to know who was involved...but I believe LordMaul knows.

Ehh... if this is allowed... I think you should have all submissions be posted here... that way there's no way to dispute any problems should someone say their work was taken advantage of.

This is probably the best solution. Competing members should also place some sort of label/tag on their image so it can not be stolen easily. Just my opinion and good luck to you RupTheKid.

Can you legally deduct 3% because of paypal fees?

I wondered that, too. I believe it's both against the law and PayPal's policy to charge for any fees incurred due to using the service.

Doesn't the receipient take the hit for the fees anyway? He would still be sending out $100 of his money.

What? I don't think it's against their policy to charge an extra 3%. Many people do this.

Please note the edits to the original post, regarding PayPal policy and submission terms. Thanks to everyone for the submissions so far. Keep the logos coming!

Thanks

Hmm, how about we send the actual logo file after we get the money? As someone said, we have been burned before (not me though :)) ;)

Agreed. Too many graphic artists are getting scammed. Make sure you put "SAMPLE" somewhere on the logo so he doesn't steal it without your permission

I have no problems with receiving a sample now. Please send me a .gif or .bmp image now, and the appropriate Illustrator files upon receiving payment if that will be more comfortable for you. If you'd like to screen the word "sample" or "copy" or similar on the logo, just make sure it doesn't interfere with legibility.

Thanks
