i assume you guys saw the paper in Science that modeled what would happen to the envirnment in a hydrogen economy

as i remember it (it's been a bit since i read it)... leaking hydrogen (will happen, though probably less than petrol) will crystalize in the upper-atmosphere, great substrate for ozone depleting reactions

honestly i still think hydrogen is still a better idea than anything else, just though i'd mention it

Yes we've heard it before. And yes technically massive amounts of hydrogen leaked into the atmosphere would cause some depleation to the ozone. However it's not nearly as much as is caused by other man-made problems that shifting to hydrogen will actually reduce...

the other thing to keep in mind is that massive amounts of any fuel dumped into the enviroment will cause problems (go figure); all things considered though I think hydrogen will do much less 😉
