Conterting between MPEG 4 formats

Is there anyway to convert between mpeg4 formats such as divx to xvid etc without losing any quality? or at least with as little quality loss as possible?

I have been using virtualdub to re-encode some divx movies to xvid and I match the video birate but quality is much worse than the origonal.

Thanks

omg why would u do that? its already lost quality going from tv/dvd to divx. its better to find a device/player that can handle both😛

The problem is that my set-top divx player does not support certain features of the .avi file that were enabled in the origonal encode. So I have to re-encode the video to ensure compatibility, however I lose a lot of quality that way.
