I'm shopping for my roommate since he's on a Navy ROTC cruiser atm and doesn't have access to the interwebz.

He is looking for a respectable manufacturer that is on the cheap side. I saw the Vizio 32" plasma and recommended that to him and after seeing the ebay deal (25% rebate) I started recommending some 32" LCDs since they were now in his price range. Are there any decent TVs in the 400-600 dollar ranging from 26-32"? I've heard the burn in problem w/ plasmas isn't as bad as it once was and the ghosting w/ LCDs is no longer a problem.

Truth or Lies?

Thought the thread title was 'Contemplating TV for porn'. Damn.

That said, you won't find anything really wonderful for the price range you're talking of, but that doesn't mean you can find something decent.

Just make sure you get a 1366x768 panel instead of 1024x768, which many cheapish panels have. 1080p is totally pointless on a screen under 40", so yeah. You may be able to score a 37" if you look hard enough.

Vizio 32" is a fine set.

I have a 42" Vizio Plasma (18 months old) and no burn in. (I don't stretch anything) There may be image retention, but it goes away within minutes and it only noticeable between channel changes. On cheap LCD panels you will still see ghosting...at least on my sister's Olevia 37" you can. Only really noticeable in hockey or golf.
