Hi there,

I'm contemplating building a new computer just because it's fun. I built my current system in May of 2005, and have added more RAM and a new video card. I don't want to just waste any good parts if I don't need to. I"m willing to spend up to $1500 to upgrade/replace my system (Ok... well $2000 if I HAVE to). Can you make any recommendations? I'm looking to make a top of the line or next to top of the line gaming/multimedia system.

My current system:

1. MSI K8N Neo4 Platinum Socket 939 NVIDIA nForce4 Ultra ATX AMD Motherboard
2. EVGA 512-P2-N637-AR GeForce 7950GT 512MB GDDR3 PCI Express x16 HDCP KO Superclocked Video Card
3. AMD Athlon 64 3700+ San Diego 1GHz FSB Socket 939 Processor
4. CORSAIR ValueSelect 2GB (4 x 512MB) 184-Pin DDR SDRAM DDR 400 (PC 3200) Unbuffered Dual Channel Kit System Memory
5. Seagate Barracuda 7200.8 ST3200826AS 200GB 7200 RPM Serial ATA150 Hard Drive
6. SONY Black IDE DVD-ROM Drive Model DDU1615/B2s
7. NEC Black IDE DVD Burner Model ND-3520A BK
8. Thermaltake Silent PurePower TT-420AD(DUAL FAN) ATX 420W Power Supply
9. Thermaltake Tsunami VA3000BWA Black Aluminum ATX Mid Tower Computer Case
10. Dell 2005FPW Monitor

Thanks for your input.

IF I were to break up that system, (really doesn't look too bad as is) I would replace the cpu for the new intel, mobo, memory and possibly the psu. untill you upgraged the vid card you should be fine with that psu. I'm not familiar with AMD so you may have upgrade routes available to you just in swapping the CPU.

PSU, RAM, CPU, and motherboard are what I would replace.

Something along the lines of an E6400, abit QuadGT, GSkill HZ?
