I'm not angry my friend, nor am I an egotist. I haven't called any person on here a SINGLE name. If you can't see that, YOUR anger is getting the best of you.

Why wont you get the vaccine? I get that you recovered from a natural infection but still... Why not get it?

The name-calling isn't a signifier of anger. The point is to get your attention, which apparently worked!

Oh he’s vaccinated, he just likes to say those who have naturally recovered from COVID should....well I don’t know he hasn’t answered that in a clear manner
He’s vaccinated but feels we should open everything up and just deal with it because he needs to make a few bucks at nightclubs or maybe something else because again he has not clearly explained what the point it
He’s vaccinated but some people who have recovered don’t need to be vaccinated provided the take regular antibody tests and do something if/when they fall....I think but again he hasn’t really explained his point here either.

Do you see the same pattern I am?

Oh, he claimed earlier is wasteful, or unnecessary, something like that. Science disagrees.

Thank you for being the first to just ask a calm question instead of throwing out insult after insult and insinuating what I'm supposed to be thinking. Not a coincidence that you are not American I'm afraid.....

Anyways, this is not about me, never was. When someone suggested that all the measures we're just a, and I quote "minor inconvenience", I explained that for musicians, the world STOPPED COLD. The only reasons I made it personal at that point it to show I'm not merely speculating. I find it quite ironic that so many calling OTHERS selfish would make such statements.

Anyways, I never said I will never get a Covid vaccine. My point was always about the futility of FORCING everyone to get it, as if that's the only way to make it go away. My point was always that at this point vaccine passports are a nearly useless idea, and the damage done by driving up division in the US even MORE than it already is over something that will have questionable effect is crazy.

Here's where I'm at in this pandemic. At this point, I don't feel like I'm at high risk of getting seriously ill from the currently know Covid variants. I feel like the dose I could receive for free, could much better be used to protect a 70 year old in a poor country, especially if this is really about ending the pandemic worldwide. I also believe that instead of jabs for 10 year olds, we should be protecting the parents of 10 year olds in poor countries. You know, if being selfish is NOT what we want.

Finally, if another Covid variant comes out that has even a 1% chance of killing me, you damn right I'm gonna take that vaccine, just as I did with others. Some of the nutters around here are not gonna believe me, but I assure you, this is where I stand.

I'm gonna say this one more time, just because we're now getting new posters who judge me without even reading the whole thread: I'm not questioning the efficacy of the current vaccines in protecting people who haven't been infected from getting really sick, they are HIGHLY effective. I have personally recommended MULTIPLE dear friends to get the shot.

So you're predicting 350k dead in the US of Covid for years to come?

No, because people unlike yourself are fortunately getting vaccinated. Without those people, the ones with common sense, it is entirely plausible with rapidly mutating variants.

You just assuming that Delta is the end of this? I haven't seen any evidence that future variants will be less severe or less contagious.

BTW: I was previously infected with covid as well. And sure as shit, I got my vaccine asap. And I'll get the booster asap. And the booster after that asap.

Forcing everyone to take the vaccine when it became available would have prevented this. We would have reached herd immunity within a month or two, we never would have had the current delta variant that apparently doesn't give a flip if you're vaccinated, it's going to spread anyhow. The Delta variant is what we're reaping from sowing anti-vax propaganda.

This is ludicrous and the fact that none of those on here in the know are letting you post this without calling you on it shows how unscientific this discussion is.

Well, if people dont understand the argument they will often go to motive to figure out why someone is saying what they do, thats why it gets personal like that.
I think you'll find that when you have your own house in order it will be much easier to help other houses get their shit in order. As of right now the US is not in order, I'd worry about getting the US vaccinated first, then see where else you can help.
The single biggest thing that could propel the US forward right now? Is all the anti waxxers and Trump nutters, Trump and Trumps included, get on a big big stage, sit down, and get a shot on live national TV.
That wont happen.
I think maybe you, as a musician, longs to be able to pull in a live crowd as per pre covid. I dont think its gonna happen man. Delta fucked us up. For certain events I can see even vaccinated people having to show a negative test.
If I was you I'd be thinking in terms of how am I gonna make this work within the framework of the new normal.
This is the new normal.

Are you going to answer.
Again, that is none of your business and not relevant to this discussion.

I'll tell you one thing though, the preposterous division between Americans, the ENDLESS name-callling, the relentless putting down of "the others", has put me VERY close to leaving to go back to Europe. I have a good career here, almost everything I dreamed of as a young kid starting to discover music; if I were selfish, I'd just follow the program and "make dat money" . More important to me is to live in a place where people at least show SOME respect for "the others" with whom they disagree. About a year ago I was seriously considering pursuing a job in Holland.

Explain to me how vaccinating a population against a transmissible disease that cannot spread from those inoculated would fail to halt a transmissible disease. I'll give you a hint: we did it with smallpox already.

I just played a show two weeks ago in Detroit for 4000 people. Seems pretty normal to me. Two days later we we're in North Carolina in a packed house.

People are still dying, but for some of use, the move back to normal has already started. Contrary to what so many of you seem to believe, this is almost over, even if no more people get vaccinated.

Except that Covid DOES spread from vaccinated people, and the Delta variant shows the same viral load in those as in unvaccinated people. Your analogy doesn't hold water.

You are terrible misinformed. The vaccine is not a magic bullet.

Vaccination is not enough by itself to stop the spread of variants, study finds (msn.com)

The DELTA variant does. The original COVID-19 virus and previous mutations did NOT exhibit this behavior. This is a single variant in all it's glory, and it's the reason it is now 80%+ of cases in the US. As prolific as the original virus was, this one is so much worse. We're about to run face-first into a complete fuckfest in another two weeks. Mark my words.
